2. Understanding Pages

Once logged in, you can start adding or editing content. Pages on MediaWiki fall into two categories:

  • Blue page titles:

* These pages already have content. They may also only include links to a Google Doc with information for editing.

  • Red/ page titles:

* These pages are currently empty and awaiting content on the specified topic. Feel free to create content for these pages as needed.

---

3. Writing and Editing

When you open a page, you’ll see the option to edit in the top-right corner as well by each heading:

  1. EDIT

* Use this mode for basic text editing.

* It provides an editing toolbar with options to format text, add links, insert images, and more.

---

4. Adding References/מראי מקומות

  1. Place your cursor where you want to add the reference on the page.
  2. Click Cite in the edit toolbar at the top of the page.
  3. Choose Basic from the options that appear.
  4. Enter the reference details and include the external link:

* Ensure the correct words in the text are linked properly.

5. Internal Links

An internal link connects a word or phrase in your topic to another page within the wiki. This helps readers easily navigate between related topics.

Example: If you're working on the Six-Day War page and you mention "fighter jet," you can link the words "fighter jet" to the Fighter Jet page.

How to add an Internal Link

1. Highlight the Word or Phrase then select the text you want to turn into a link (e.g., "fighter jet").

2. Click the Link Button In the edit menu (it looks like a chain or paperclip).

3. Search the name of the page you want to link to (e.g., Fighter Jet). Then select and the link will be added automatically.

You can add an External Link to a external website by following the same steps and selecting External Link in the link button menu.

Your selected text will now link to the chosen page. When readers click it, they'll go directly to that topic.

6. Creating a New page

Internal links can also be used to create new pages. if you wish to add a topic, simply create an Internal link and the words selected will be the name and link to that page. When you do make sure to add the new page created to the Main page in the correct category as an Internal link.

7. Fixing a mistake

If you made a error and cant seem to fix it, you can go to the history in the top right corner of the page, there you can find your edit and select undo. This will clear all the edits you recently saved.

Feel free to explore, add new pages, and improve existing ones. Thank you for contributing!
